Ethiopia, Somalia police forces ink agreement to jointly counteract cross-border crimes
Addis Ababa, December 9, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Federal Police and the Police Force of Somalia inked an agreement to jointly counteract cross-border crimes.
It has been stated that the agreement will enable both sides to jointly operate on cross-border issues, especially to counteract terrorism and illegal trafficking of people and weapons.
According to the agreement, it is said that young Somali police leaders will join the Ethiopian Police College and attend training. Hence, more than 40 Somali police officers will come to Ethiopia to receive training within first and second degree in the College.
The Ethiopian Federal Police Commissioner, General Demelash Gebre-Michael signed the agreement with his Somali counterpart, Major General Abdi Hassan Mohammad.
The 24th General Session of the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO), being held in Addis Ababa for the past 6 days, is expected to conclude today.
