Ethiopia signs a $43M grant agreement with AfDB to empower agri-MSMEs
Addis Ababa, June 13, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian government today signed a US$43 million grant agreement with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to empower the agricultural sector and to enhance the job creation agenda, the Ministry of Finance disclosed.
The grant will be channeled towards the Agricultural Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Agri-MSMEs) Development for Jobs project, which aims to enhance the competitiveness, employment prospects, and overall development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in Ethiopia, according to the Ministry.
It is learned that the project has a potential role as a catalyst for productivity, and inclusive growth, contributing to the country’s ongoing efforts to build a resilient and diversified economy.
The agreement was signed between Mr. Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance, on behalf of the Government of Ethiopia, and Dr. Abdul Kamara, Deputy Director General, East Arica Regional Development and Business Delivery Office and Country Manager, representing the Bank.
