Ethiopia shares experience in coping with impact of global crises at Forum of Federations
Addis Ababa, May 10, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia has shared its experience in coping with the impact of global crises at Forum of Federations Annual General Board Meeting 2023.
Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the Forum of Federations Annual General Board Meeting 2023, held in Aarau, Switzerland.
Ambassador Birtukan, who has been serving as a member of the Board since 2020, presented Ethiopia’s experience in coping with the impact of global crises on democratic political systems, particularly the implementation of the federal system in Ethiopia during COVID-19.
In connection with that, she highlighted the coordination of the Federal Government of Ethiopia with the regional states.
Apart from Ethiopia, the representatives of Germany and Brazil also presented the experiences of their countries on the matter.
The Forum reviewed last year’s performance and set a direction following a discussion on six agenda items that could further strengthen the forum’s objectives. It also reached a consensus on finding funds to carry out various activities based on the needs of the Member States.
Board members witnessed Swiss federalism in action in the Cantonal Parliament of Aarau. The Forum is an international organization based in Canada that aims to develop and share comparative expertise on the practice of federal and decentralized governance through a global network.
