Ethiopia set to import iron, steel related goods from Turkish importers
Addis Ababa, October, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLSE) confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Turkish importers to supply steel and iron goods to Ethiopia.
The agreement has been signed between ESLSE, Turkish steel suppliers, and their agent-Arkas Holding S.C to deliver the supplies from the Turkish ports of Aligas, Izmir and Alexandria.
Roba Megersa, Chief Executive Officer of ESLSE said that the Enterprise ready to provide efficient service to the suppliers and to ship to Djibouti port destinations at discounted prices.
The chief executive stated that the enterprise was providing freight services for iron and steel-related goods, recalling that it was stagnant due to the war between Ukraine and Russia.
However, he said, “We are in a position to provide transportation services with reasonable capacity to fulfill our role in the goal that Ethiopia intends to achieve.”
He also stated that Ethiopia is working to increase the shipping service access by deploying its own cargo ships to Turkish ports.
Roba added that the company regularly deploys its own ships and additional charter ships to Turkish loading ports and is working to increase its service reach.
It is remembered that ESLSE recorded high revenue of 51.4 billion birr in the 2021/22 fiscal year.
