Ethiopia set to host the 2023 African Economic Conference
Addis Ababa, October 31, 2023 (FBC) – The 2023 edition of the African Economic Conference, jointly organized by African Development Bank (AfDB), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The conference will be held from 16-18 November in a hybrid format, with the physical location being the UN Conference Centre in Africa’s diplomatic capital.
Centered on efforts to increase sustainable industrialization in Africa and meet the continent’s Agenda 2063(link is external), the theme of this year’s conference is “Imperatives for sustainable industrial development in Africa”. The event will also provide a platform for established academics and young researchers to present their solution-oriented research to policymakers and decision-makers, it is learned.
African ministers, United Nations partners, and key development and private sector representatives will meet up to discuss some of the challenges and opportunities for Africa to boost green and sustainable industrialisation.
Since its inception in 2006, the conference has fostered dialogue and the exchange of knowledge on a variety of issues and challenges that Africa has faced.
