Ethiopia set to host international Quran, Azan competition this week
Addis Ababa, January 28, 2025 (FMC) – Guests from around the world are arriving in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to participate in the International Quran and Azan competition.
A five-day prestigious event marks the second round of the Ethiopian International Quran and Azan Competition Award and is anticipated to kick off tomorrow on January 29, 2025.
More than 100 competitors from 60 countries are set to participate in this prestigious international Quran competition.
The event is also anticipated to draw participants and audiences from around the world.
Many are expressing optimism about the event’s success, as it is attracting numerous countries and tourists to Ethiopia.
Underscoring Ethiopia’s role as a center of cultural and religious significance, the competition will help participants visit tourist attractions in Ethiopia.
The competition is organized by the Zayd Ibn Thabit Qur’an Association and the Supreme Council of Ethiopian Islamic Affairs.
Ethiopia is hosting many international and continental conferences as its capacity to host such events grows.
The East African nation has recently embarked on constructing new tourist destination infrastructure. These endeavors are hugely enabling Ethiopia to host various international and continental conferences and competitions effectively.
Alongside the development of new tourist destinations, numerous renovation works have been completed in Ethiopia, it was learned.
The efforts have resulted in a 40 percent surge in terms of visitors to the country over the past five years alone, making Ethiopia the top country in Africa with the highest increase in visitors.
The organizers told ENA that guests participating in this International Quran and Azan Competition will also visit various tourist attractions in Ethiopia during their stay.
President of the Zayd Ibn Thabit Qur’an Association and Head of the Ethiopian International Qur’an and Azan Competition, Dr. Nuredin Qasim indicated that 2 male and 1 female contenders representing Ethiopia have been selected, along with contestants from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and America.
