Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia explore new areas of cooperation
Addis Ababa, December 28, 2023 (FBC) – Ambassador of Ethiopia to Saudi Arabia, Lencho Bati held discussions with Kingdom’s Interior Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Saud on bilateral issues of mutual concern.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Saud called for concerted efforts to address issues related to undocumented Ethiopian migrants who are stranded in detention centers in the kingdom.
The Interior Minister described Ethiopia as a historical and close partner for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing the need to bring collective solution to the problems Ethiopian migrants are facing in his country.
He said Saudi Arabia is committed to extend overseas employment opportunity it is offering for Ethiopian workers, pledging to cement collaboration between the two countries in areas of education, trade and regional cooperation.
Ambassador Lencho, for his part, commended the amelioration in the bilateral relationship between Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia. He affirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to work together with Saudi Arabia in new areas of cooperation in addition to improving safety of citizens in the kingdom.
The two sides have also explored news areas of cooperation and vowed to cement the existing bilateral ties, according to Ethiopia’s Embassy in Riyadh.
