Ethiopia, Saudi Agree to Collaborate on Transport, Logistics
Addis Ababa, November 21, 2023 (FBC) – Saudi delegation led by Minister of Transport and Logistics, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser visited today Modjo Dry Port and Terminal in Ethiopia.
On the occasion Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Alemu Seme (PhD) discussed with the Saudi delegation on ways to further strengthen cooperation in the sector.
Alemu said that due to the bilateral relations between Ethiopia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia is ready to work with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics of Saudi Arabia in the field of logistics, transportation, labor force, and also on matters of migrants.
For his part, the Saudi Minister said that Ethiopia is conducive for investment, expressing his country’s readiness to share its experience in the field of logistics and transport, noting that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has huge experience in the area.
According to ENA, the Minister further stated that the two countries will cooperate in the field of immigration and migrants too. Saudi-Ethiopian relations are rooted in social, economic and political spheres, among others.
Modjo Dry port and terminal is one of the largest operational inland dry ports in Ethiopia, which was established in 2009. It is located 73 Km from the capital and it is connected to the new Ethio – Djibouti Rail way line.
The port occupies a total area of 150 hectare while 31.7 hectare land area is used for container terminal services.
