Ethiopia, Russia agree to enhance cooperation in science and education
Addis Ababa, October 7, 2024 (FBC) – The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Russian Federation have reached an agreement to further deepen their robust relations through cooperation in the fields of science and technology.
This news story disclosed by the Ethiopian Embassy in Moscow in light of a meeting between Ambassador of Ethiopia to Russia, Genet Teshome, and the Russian Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, K.I Mogilevsky, earlier today.
The two sides have discussed to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of Science and Technology, including the signing of an MoU on Science and Innovation as well as the ratification process on the establishment of the Joint Ethio-Russian Biological Research Center.
During the meeting, Ambassador Genet Teshome requested the Deputy Minister to increase the quota for Ethiopian students in higher education institutions in the Russian Federation.
On his part, Mogilevsky stated that the scholarship awarded to Ethiopian students would increase substantially to help the East African nation’s human resources with a view to bring about economic growth.
The Embassy revealed that K.I Mogilevsky will travel to Ethiopia on 6 November 2024 for an official visit to discuss about bilateral issues in the field of higher education and scientific cooperation with Ethiopian authorities.
