Ethiopia, Romania agree to revitalize ties by utilizing opportunities
Addis Ababa, November 3, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopia and Romania agreed to enhance their long-established bilateral relations by utilizing opportunities in various spheres, MFA Ethiopia confirmed.
The Romanian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ms. Iulia Pataki, presented copies of her credentials to Demeke Atnafu, Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA Ethiopia), on Wednesday.
Demeke welcomed the new Romanian Ambassador and reiterated his appreciation for the long-standing ties that have existed between Ethiopia and Romania since the country’s embassy in Addis Ababa was established in 1975.
The Romanian Ambassador expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and her readiness to cooperate with Ethiopia by revitalizing previous bilateral agreements.
The two sides noted that Ethiopia and Romania should enhance relations by utilizing opportunities to collaborate on IT and cyber security, agriculture, banking, investment, trade, and culture.
They have also discussed the current situation in Ethiopia and the [successfully concluded] African Union-led peace process for concluding the conflict with the TPLF.
Demeke emphasized the Ethiopian government’s commitment to working with the African Union to resolve lingering issues over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, and he asked the Romanian government to support the tripartite talks being led by the AU.
