Ethiopia reports 85 new COVID-19 cases, one death in 24 hours
Addis Ababa, June 1, 2020 (FBC) –Ethiopia has recorded 85 news cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) out of the 2, 926 samples tested in the past 24 hours.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 1,257.
Of the new confirmed cases, 51 are male and 34 are female with the youngest being one month old infant and the oldest 65 year, according to the Ministry of Health.
All the confirmed cases are Ethiopian nationals and 72 of them are from Addis Ababa, four from Tigray, five from Oromia, one from Amhara and three from Somali regional states.
Of the cases, 19 have travel history from abroad, 18 having contact with confirmed cases and the remaining 48 cases have neither travel history nor known contact traces.
A 30-year-old man who was in an intensive care treatment at Eka Kotebe Hospital in Addis Ababa has also died, taking the total death from the virus to 12.
Eight more people have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 217.
Ethiopia’s total test counts currently stands at of 112, 377.
