Ethiopia reports 46 new COVID-19 cases, one death in 24 hours
Addis Ababa, May 25, 2020 (FBC) –A total of 46 people have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), out of the 3, 410 samples taken in the past 24 hours.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 701, said a statement by the Ministry of health.
Out of the 46 cases, 29 are male and 17 are female, with the youngest being 12 years old and oldest 79 years, it said.
The statement indicated that 45 of the cases are Ethiopians, while the remaining one is an Israeli citizen.
Out of the new positive cases, 13 are from Addis Ababa, three from Tigray, 15 from Amhara and 11 from Somali regional states. The remaining four cases are truck drivers.
According to the statement, 34 of the cases have travel history from abroad, 4 having contact with confirmed cases, and the remaining 8 have neither travel history nor known contact traces.
A 32 year-old-woman also died from the virus, bringing the total deaths to six. Eight more people have also recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 167.
Ethiopia’s total test count currently stands at 87,264.
