Ethiopia reports 1,848 deaths due to road traffic accidents in 6 months

Addis Ababa, March 3, 2021 (FBC) -Road traffic accidents have claimed 1,848 lives in six months, said the Federal Police Commission.

According to the Commission, the country reported a total of 20, 672 road traffic accidents between July and December, 2020.

Addis Ababa city alone reported 15, 844 accidents and 192 deaths, the Commission indicated.

A total of 5, 211 people had sustained injuries (2, 646 serious, 2,565 minor) due to the accidents, according to the Commission.

The accident also caused damages to properties worth more than 495.2 million birr.

The data was collected from all regional states and the two city administration, except Tigray due to the security situation in the region .
