Ethiopia registers highest single-day rise in COVID-19 cases
Addis Ababa, June 20, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopia registered its highest single-day jump in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases with 399, bringing the tally to 4,469.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new cases were identified out of the 4,848 laboratory tests conducted in the past 24 hours.
The Ministry reported no new COVID19-related deaths over the last one day.
Among the new cases, 195 are male and 204 are female aged between 4 and 85 years.
Some 135 of them were identified from Civil Service University quarantine center, 132 from Dewale and Galile quarantine center, 86 from Addis Ababa, 18 from Amhara, 14 from Dire Dawa, 9 from Oromia, two from Tigray and one each from SNNP and Gambella regions.
The Ministry further reported that 95 patients have recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 1, 122.
There are now a total of 3,273 active cases in Ethiopia, with 30 of them in a severe condition. The total number of tests conducted so far stands at 211, 871.
