Ethiopia reaffirms commitment to work closely with Africa CDC in fulfilling rollout of NCDI/MH strategy
Addis Ababa, April 28, 2022 (FBC) – The Health Minister Dr. Lia Tadesse reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to work closely with Africa Center for Disease Control (CDC) and member states in fulfilling effective rollout of the Non- Non- Communicable Diseases, Injures and Mental Health (NCDI/MH) Strategy.
Dr. Lia attended Africa CDC member states and stakeholders workshop to validate and launch the Non- Non- Communicable Diseases, Injures and Mental Health (NCDI/MH) Strategy.
“NCDs, Injuries and Mental Health problems are major public health burdens and contributors to disability, compromised quality of life, and productivity.”
Prioritizing high impact interventions that promote healthy lifestyle, multisectoral approach and strengthening Public Health Care (PHC) in providing basic services are key to tackle NCDs Injuries and Mental Health issues, Dr. Lia said.
She commended the Africa CDC for taking the leadership and reaffirmed commitment of the Government of Ethiopia to work closely with Africa CDC and member states in fulfilling the effective rollout of this strategy.
