Ethiopia reaffirms commitment to scalable climate solutions

Addis Ababa, November 21, 2024 (FBC) – At COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Seyoum Mekonen, the Ethiopian State Minister of Planning and Development, announced Ethiopia’s pivotal role as a founding member of the Group of Negative Emitters (GONE).

This initiative seeks to expedite the journey towards net-negative emissions by focusing on innovative carbon dioxide removal (CDR) strategies to uphold the 1.5°C climate target.

During his address, the State Minister highlighted Ethiopia’s unwavering dedication to advancing scalable climate solutions and enhancing global cooperation in the fight against climate change.
