Ethiopia reaffirms commitment to fair utilization of transboundary water resources
Addis Ababa, October 9, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Water and Energy, Habtamu Itefa, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the fair utilization of the nation’s transboundary water resources.
In his opening remarks at the 11th Water, Hydro-Diplomacy and Communication Forum held at Jimma University, Habtamu emphasized that the Forum is crucial in bringing together academia, practitioners, the media, and all stakeholders in the region to address the challenges faced by the nation. He highlighted that the forum plays a vital role in addressing issues that promote cooperation.
The Minister emphasized that water has become an integral factor in politics, economy, and diplomacy in the present day.
He stated that Ethiopia is paying close attention to this matter and strongly adheres to the principle of fair and equal utilization of its transboundary water resources. He also called on the media to play their role in informing the truth about Ethiopia.
