Ethiopia proposes to host the biennial UN Anti-Corruption Conference
Addis Ababa, December 13, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia is participating in the tenth session of Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (CoSP10), which is being held in Atlanta, USA.
The Ethiopian delegation led by Chief Commissioner of the Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Samuel Urqato is participating in the conference.
It was mentioned that the biennial conference, COSP, will recommend the implementation of the anti-corruption agreement of the member states and that the member countries are holding consultations to help strengthen the cooperation in the fight against corruption.
Ethiopia’s national anti-corruption activity report was presented at the conference, it is indicated.
The commissioner requested that Ethiopia be given the opportunity to host Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
It is said that a positive feedback was received to consider the question by the executive of the conference.
Furthermore, sideline consultations are being held to strengthen the cooperation of countries in order to retrieve the wealth that flees from each country.
The Conference of the States Parties (COSP) is the main policymaking body of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. It supports States parties and signatories in their implementation of the Convention, and gives policy guidance to UNODC to develop and implement anti-corruption activities.
