Ethiopia, Portugal explore ways to bolster cooperation in education
Addis Ababa, October 23, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Minister of Education, Prof. Berhanu Nega, and the Portuguese Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Nuno Sampaio, have discussed ways to deepen academic cooperation between their respective higher education institutions and other organizations during a meeting held in Addis Ababa today.
The two ministers emphasized their commitment to strengthening friendly relations in education and related domains, with Portugal expressing plans in increasing the number of free scholarships provided to Ethiopia thereby expanding cooperation in education and culture.
Education Minister Prof. Berhanu also revealed that his ministry is establishing an education museum and called on Portugal to continue strengthening its support for Ethiopia’s educational initiatives.
Nuno Sampaio expressed his country’s desire to enhance its cooperation with Ethiopia in education and culture by increasing the number of free scholarships and expanding the existing friendly relations between the two countries.
In addition, the Ambassador of Portugal to Ethiopia, Luísa Fragoso, has revealed plans to organize a cultural event at Addis Ababa University St. Yared School of Music to celebrate the National Day of Portugal, as per the Ethiopian Ministry of Education.
