Ethiopia participating in the OACPS Council of Ministers Session in Angola, Luanda
Addis Ababa, December 10. 2022 (FBC) – Ambassador Hirut Zemene took part in the Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) Council of Ministers session, representing the Ethiopian delegation.
According to MFA Ethiopia, the council’s session focused on preparations for the 10th OACPS Summit, being held from 9th to 10th December in Luanda, Angola.
The council session deliberated on major engagements of the organization with regard to the Nairobi Nugvu Ya Pamoja Declaration that was being implemented in the past three years and the new declaration that will guide the summit of the organization for the coming three years.
The meeting endorsed the report of the council of ministers to be submitted to the summit.
It also dwelt, among others, on the status of the peace and security situation in member countries, economic issues that relate to the current economic downturn, climate change, and matters of international trade, and how to come out of these challenges, including through experience sharing among member countries and mobilizing support from global partners, including the EU.
The deliberation has also underlined, among others, tasks accomplished in the past three years by member countries, including Ethiopia in peace and security matters and the successful election held in June 2021, along with other member countries that undertook elections in the past three years.
The OACPS Summit takes place every three years. The last summit took place in Nairobi in December 2019.
