Ethiopia participating in German – African Energy Forum in Hamburg City
Addis Ababa, June 2, 2022 (FBC) – The 15th German – African Energy Forum is underway in the city of Hamburg. The forum is organized by the African – Verein in Collaboration with the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action. Africa – Verein is an association of the first top 600 biggest companies in the energy sector in Germany.
Professor Stefan Liebing officially opened the forum – Chairman of the Board of Directors and Delegate of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
Ethiopia’s Delegation led by Sultan Woli (PhD), State Minister for the Energy sector has presented its challenges and opportunities in the energy sector during the plenary session with a dedicated topic on ‘Scaling up Investments and Partnerships for Renewable Energy in Africa’ hosted by the KONORAD ADENAUER STIFTUNG (KAS) on yesterday.
The plenary session, the state minister raised the wrong perception of Ethiopia’s being the water tower of Africa by showcasing the recent drought effect which is the direct cause for the death of hundreds of thousands of cattle in the pastoralist communities including Oromiya and Somali regions.
The delegation has also made strategic and meaningful bilateral meetings with both German Companies and Government officials.
The meeting will conclude today with a good opportunity to bring together the African countries with German Private Business companies for partnership and attract investments. More than 40 African countries are attending the forum.
