Ethiopia participating at Meeting of BRICS High-Ranking Officials in St. Petersburg

Addis Ababa, September 11, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopian delegation, led by Million Lemma, Executive Director from the National Intelligence Security Service (NISS), is participating in the Meeting of BRICS High-Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters/National Security Advisors being held from 10 – 12 September 2024 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The 14th Meeting of BRICS High-Ranking Officials responsible for security matters/National Security Advisors has started in St. Petersburg, Russia.

In his remarks at the meeting, Executive Director Million Lemma stated that Ethiopia’s enduring commitment to multilateral security remains steadfast and substantive, the Embassy of Ethiopia in Moscow said.

The Executive Director further highlighted that contemporary global security landscape is being challenged with complex and interconnected threats, such as violent extremism, terrorism, geopolitical rivalries, unconstitutional change of power, internal conflicts, economic instability, and transnational organized crimes, including arms and human trafficking.

During the meeting, many participants called for greater cooperation and coordination among member states to effectively address the multifaceted threats to international peace and security that have become more complex and intertwined due to technological advancement.
