Ethiopia, Namibia sign cooperation agreement on peace and security
Addis Ababa, February 16, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia and Namibia have signed cooperation agreement to work together on peace and security issues.
The agreement was signed by Ethiopian Defense Minister Abraham Belay and Namibia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah.
During the signing ceremony, Namibia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah said the cooperation between the two countries is inextricably linked with Namibia’s independence.
She stated that Ethiopia’s participation was significant for Namibia’s liberation from yoke of colonialism.
The countries have agreed to work together in the field of training, aviation, economic cooperation and cultural spheres.
Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah added that the agreement lays the foundation for strong cooperation between Ethiopia and Namibia in multifaceted areas.
Defense Minister Abraham Belay, for his part, said that the two countries have been enjoying long standing democratic ties. The agreement aimed at further strengthening the defense and security cooperation between the two countries, Abraham said.
It is to be recalled that the two countries have so far signed MoU to forge collaboration in areas of the air force, navy and capacity building.
