Ethiopia, Mozambique agree to cooperate on issues of mutual interest
Addis Ababa, October 28, 2022 (FBC) – Tagesse Chaffo, Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia conferred with the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, Hope Laurinde Francisco Nhiuane Bias.
Discussions mainly focused on the need to cooperate on common peace and security challenges such as terrorism and climate change.
The two speakers briefed each other about current situations in their respective countries and agreed to strengthen partnership between the two parliaments.
Special focus was given to cooperation on multilateral forums such as the OACPS and the ACP-EU to forward common African agenda.
Speaker Tagesse Chaffo congratulated the president of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique on her upcoming assumption of the presidency of the organization of the African, Carribian and Pacific States Parliamentary Assembly and pledged Ethiopia’s readiness to cooperate with Mozambique in championing African issues.
Both officials, during their discussion, also stressed the need to find African Solutions to African problems.
The speaker invited each other to their capitals for an official visit and further discussions.
A delegation, led by the Ethiopian Upper House Speaker, is in Maputo, Mozambique to participate in the 61st session of the organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States Parliamentary Assembly and 42nd session of the ACP-European Union joint parliamentary Assembly, as per the House’s official Facebook page.
