Ethiopia–Kenya HVDC Interconnector to commence power supply in 2 weeks
Addis Ababa, October 21, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopia-Kenya’s 500 KV high voltage power transmission line is scheduled to start transmitting power in the next two weeks, the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) announced.
EEP has also urged the public to stay away from the contact of the metal poles carrying the power transmission line.
A team led by Kibrom Kahsay, Chief Executive Officer of the Construction Sector of Electric Power Transmission Lines and Distribution Stations at EEP, discussed with the manager and department heads of Wolayta Zone as well as with the officials of Gamo Zone.
In the discussion, he said that the line is of great benefit in the long run to the energy connection of the two countries and to the economy of Ethiopia.
Sodo–Moyale–Suswa High Voltage Power Line (or Ethiopia–Kenya HVDC Interconnector) is a 500 kV bipolar high-voltage direct current electricity power transmission line.
