Ethiopia, Kenya discuss prospect of cooperation in investment
Ambassador Demeke Atnafu, Deputy Head of Mission at the Ethiopian Embassy in Nairobi, received and met with Samuel Weruethe, Kenya’s National Executive Chairman and Chamber Chairman and other Eight Directors of the Chamber on 12 August 2024.
During the Meeting, Ambassador Demeke briefed the delegates about the ample business and investment opportunities in Ethiopia, mainly in priority sectors including agriculture, agro-processing, manufacturing, mining, IT and tourism.
He further elucidated that the newly opened service sectors such as banks, telecom. Logistics and transport, import-export trade as well as the market based foreign exchange system to both domestic and foreign investors and invited Kenya companies for investment in these sectors.
Samuel Weruethe, Chamber’s President, welcomed the newly introduced reform measures in Ethiopia to open up the economy in particular service sectors and underscored that floating the Forex system would encourage and bolster Kenyan investment in Ethiopia.
