Ethiopia, Kenya discuss cooperation in combating terrorism, ensuring regional peace and stability
Addis Ababa, February 29, 2024 (FBC) – Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, Chief of the General Staff of the Ethiopian Defense Forces (ENDF), paid a visit to the HQ of the Kenyan Defense Force.
As part of his working visit, the Chief of the General Staff held discussion with his Kenyan counterpart, General Francis Omondi Ogolla, to further strengthening the ties between Ethiopia and Kenya.
The meeting between the military leaders was marked by camaraderie and fruitful discussions as they delved deep into areas of common interest and various bilateral issues, the Embassy of Ethiopia in Nairobi said.
The two have affirmed commitment to fostering closer ties between Ethiopia and Kenya.
The discussions encompassed a wide range of topics, including regional security, defense cooperation, and joint training exercises.
Both sides expressed their desire to enhance collaboration in combating terrorism, ensuring peace and stability, and promoting regional development.
The Chief of the General Staff, Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended by the Kenyan Defense Force.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining strong ties with neighboring countries and underlined the shared vision of peace and prosperity in the region.
“We are confident that this visit will further solidify the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Ethiopia and Kenya. By deepening our collaboration, we can collectively address the challenges and seize the opportunities that lie ahead” he stated.
