Ethiopia, Italy sign MoU to work together on environmental protection
Addis Ababa, December 4, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia and Italy have signed a memorandum of understanding to work to work in cooperation on the implementation of environmental protection programs at the Ethiopian Pavilion in Dubai Expo City, UAE.
The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) by Getahun Garede, Director General of the FDRE Environmental Protection Authority, and Ms. Roberta Ronzitti, Director for International Environmental Cooperation at Italy’s Ministry for Environment and Energy Security.
It is indicated that the agreement focuses on cooperation in environmental protection programs and sustainable development activities, especially in lowland areas of Ethiopia.
The memorandum of understanding opens up ways of cooperation between Ethiopia, a leading country in environmental protection, and Italy, which has extensive experience in the field of sustainable development and energy security, through the Green Legacy Initiative and similar programs.
The signing of the MoU reflects the shared vision of both countries to solve environmental problems, promote green technologies and ensure a sustainable future, it was stated.
The cooperation, according to the Ethiopian Consulate in Dubai and Northern Emirates, covers various sectors including biodiversity conservation, renewable energy projects, waste management and climate change adaptation.
