Ethiopia, Israel agree to cooperate in intelligence, security service

Addis Ababa, November 6, 2020 (FBC) –Ethiopia and Israel have agreed to cooperate in the areas of intelligence and security service, according to the National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS).

Commissioner Demelash Gebremichael, Director General NISS, yesterday received and held discussion with the visiting Israeli Deputy Public Security Minister, Gadi Yevarkan.

The two sides agreed to jointly fight terrorism in the Horn of Africa, to exchange information, and cooperate in technology transfer and capacity building sectors, NISS said in statement sent to FBC.

Commissioner Demelash said the two countries can contribute a lot to maintain peace and stability of the Horn of Africa if they work together in the areas of intelligence and security service.

Gadi Yevarkan for his part said Israel is keen to consolidate its ties with Ethiopia as it has a great role towards maintaining peace in the Horn region.

He further said Israel supports Ethiopia’s reform process.
