‘Ethiopia is our second home’ – South Sudan DFM
Addis Ababa, August 22, 2022 (FBC) – Deng Dau Deng, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Affairs of South Sudan, claimed that Ethiopia is their second home, expressing gratitude to Ethiopia for helping them in their struggle for independence, during an event organized for seedling planting.
The Deputy Minister said that the Ethiopian peacekeeping force deployed in the region is supporting them in various fields of development beyond its mission of ensuring peace.
Nabil Mehdi, Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ethiopia in South Sudan, in his speech at the event, said that since Ethiopia and South Sudan are peoples with long-standing ties and close friendship, they will continue to strengthen cooperation for the development of the two countries.
The Ambassador thanked the leaders of ENDF’s 15th Motorized Peacekeeping Battalion who took part in the Green Legacy event in Juba, South Sudan, which is expected to be implemented in all African countries, an initiative proposed and launched by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed.
Senior officials of the 15th Motorized Peacekeeping Battalion, IGAD Ethiopian representatives, generals, military attachés, leaders of the Ethiopian National Support Group, members of the Ethiopian community in Juba, South Sudanese Foreign Ministry staff and diplomats took part in the seedling planting program.
