Ethiopia is an anchor state in HOA region: Slovenian DPM
Addis Ababa, January 17, 2024 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen, held a one-to-one discussion with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon.
The discussion covered bilateral and regional issues.
On behalf of the government of Ethiopia, Mr. Demeke forwarded a congratulatory message to his counterpart, as Slovenia has been elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
The new embassy that Slovenia opened in Addis Ababa in May 2023 is a significant step to strengthen its relations not only with Ethiopia but also with wider Africa, the DPM stated.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister also briefed his Slovenian counterpart about Ethiopia’s ongoing role to ensure peace and security in the Horn of Africa.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, expressed her Government’s commitment to strengthening the current bilateral relations with Ethiopia.
She said Ethiopia is an anchor state in the region, and she appreciated Ethiopia’s role in consolidating peace and sustaining development.
