Ethiopia, India agree to advance ties through stronger bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation
Addis Ababa, September 26, 2024 (FBC) – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie, met and held a discussion with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, in New York.
The two foreign ministers’ discussion was held on Wednesday on the margins of the 79th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79).
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, the foreign ministers discussed key bilateral and multilateral issues of common interest.
Subsequently, both sides agreed to advance their longstanding friendship through stronger bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation.
The two foreign ministers also participated in the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting on the sidelines of UNGA79.
It is indicated that the ministerial session underlined its significance for multi-polarity and global diversity with a focus on reforming multilateralism and strengthening development.
BRICS ministers also discussed achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing debt, promoting fair trade and overcoming poverty.
