Ethiopia, IFPMA discuss local pharmaceutical manufacturing opportunities
Addis Ababa, August 16, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Offices and other International Organizations, Ambassador Tsegab Kebebew, met with Dr. David Reddy, the Director General of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) on August 15, 2024, in Geneva, Switzerland,.
During their meeting, they discussed potential investment opportunities for local manufacturing of medicines and in Ethiopia.
Following their meeting, Ambassador Tsegab provided an update on the Ethiopian government’s commitment and recent policy measures aimed at creating a favorable environment for local manufacturing.
He underscored that these initiatives are designed to attract both domestic and foreign pharmaceutical companies.
Additionally, Ambassador Tsegab and Dr. David Reddy discussed the importance of constructive engagement between the industry and private sector in achieving equity during negotiations related to the International Negotiating Body (INB).
The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) represent the innovative pharmaceutical industry, boasting over 90 members. Its primary objective is to promote pharmaceutical innovation and act as a bridge between the pharmaceutical industry and other relevant stakeholders, such as those within the United Nations system.
