Ethiopia Honored by UN for Non-Communicable Disease Prevention Efforts
Addis Ababa, September 16, 2017 (FBC) – The United Nations has celebrated Ethiopia for its significant accomplishments in the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The award was presented to the Ethiopian Ministry of Health by the UN Task Force on NCD Prevention and Control during the ongoing 79th General Assembly in New York.
Ethiopia was specifically recognized for its effective integrated approach to NCD prevention, the provision of community-based health services, and particularly its strides in cervical cancer prevention. Dr. Mekdes Daba, the Minister of Health, accepted the award on behalf of the country at the assembly.
