Ethiopia highlights the need to strengthen Africa program for capacity building in chemical technologies

Addis Ababa, November 29, 2023 (FBC) – A Ethiopian delegation led by Hasan Muhumed Moalin is taking part on the 28th Session of the Organization of the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague, Netherlands.

The session is deliberating on various agendas that bring together the 193 member countries on the implementation of the Chemical Weapon Convention that guides the work of the Organization.

Hasan has delivered Ethiopia’s position on the need to strengthen the Africa Program for technology transfer and capacity building on chemical related technologies and preventive aspects on damages.

The OPCW was established in 1997 of which Ethiopia is a founding member.

The Organization has recently launched a state of the arts Chemical Laboratory that will be available for member countries’ demand for chemical laboratories, training, and capacity building.
