Ethiopia, Greece seek stronger ties through trade, investment, and education
Addis Ababa, March 19, 2024 (FBC) – The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Ambassador Alexandra Papadopoulou disclosed that her country has a keen interest to further cement its longstanding relations with Ethiopia through various domains.
The Hellenic Republic’s intention was disclosed during a meeting between Ambassador of Ethiopia to the Hellenic Republic with residence in Rome Demitu Hambisa and Ambassador Alexandra Papadopoulou. During their engagement, the Ethiopian envoy and the Deputy Minister discussed bilateral and global issues of mutual concern, according to the Ethiopian Embassy in Rome.
During the meeting, Ambassador Demitu provided an overview of the current state of affairs in her country, Ethiopia, including updates on the GERD trilateral negotiation, the implementation of the Pretoria peace agreement, Ethiopia’s pursuit of access to the sea, the inclusive national dialogue process, and the transitional justice policy.
Both the Ethiopian envoy and the Greece Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized the historical ties and cultural connections that exist between Greece and Ethiopia, underscoring the importance of strengthening these relations. They highlighted the significance of enhancing trade, investment, and educational collaborations as key areas for further development.
Ambassador Alexandra Papadopoulou expressed Greece’s keen interest in reinforcing the historical relations with Ethiopia through high-level engagements.
Overall, the discussions centered around the mutual goal of deepening the bilateral relations between Greece and Ethiopia, with a particular focus on trade, investment, and education sectors.
