Ethiopia, GGGI discuss collaboration in green dev’t strategy, climate change
Addis Ababa, May 13, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Minister of Water and Energy, Habtamu Itefa held a discussion with the new Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Ethiopia country Representative, Mr. Okechukwu Daniel Ogbonnaya, on how to work collaboratively on the green development strategy and climate change agenda in Ethiopia.
During the meeting, the MoWE Minister briefed Mr. Daniel about issues pertaining to water resource management, water supply and sanitation and energy development.
He noted that his Ministry has accorded a significant priority to water resource management, as it is key for the sustainable development of the other sectors, adding that focusing on energy mix; solar, wind, and other renewable energy resources, as well as creating access to electricity for the off-grid areas is a critical issue of intervention for the Ministry.
Habtamu expressed his strong desire to work in collaboration with GGGI in resource mobilization, policy development and technical advisory.
He also invited GGGI to take part in the exhibition that the Ministry is set out to organize soon.
For his part, GGGI Ethiopia Representative, Mr. Okechukwu Daniel Ogbonnaya, stated that GGGI is keen on supporting the Ministry in different sectors in line with the government policy and development priorities.
He also highlighted GGGI’s achievement over the past years on solar energy, ecosystem services and Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA), as per the Ministry.
