Ethiopia gets $30mln for construction of vaccine manufacturing plant
Addis Ababa, April 15, 2023 (FBC) – The World Bank has provided 30 million US dollars in support of construction of a vaccine manufacturing plant in Ethiopia.
It was stated that the construction of the vaccine factory in Kilinto Industrial Park will involve participation of investors.
Ethiopian Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) indicated that the Ministry of Health has signed MoU with 20 international companies that are interested to engage in the pharmaceutical sector in Ethiopia.
Manufacturing companies ‘Africure Pharmaceuticals’, which built its factory in Kilinto Industrial Park, and ‘Trust Pharmaceuticals’, which set up its company in Debre Birhan town, will start production soon, according to IPDC.
It is to be recalled that Aklilu Tadese, the CEO of IPDC, recently discussed in detail with the Minister of Health, Dr. Lia Tadese, conditions under which vaccines can be produced at the Kilinto Industrial Park.
