Ethiopia, Germany discuss bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest
Addis Ababa, February 13, 2024 (FBC) – Ambassador Mesganu Arga, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, received this morning a high-ranking delegation of the German Federal Parliament’s Committee for the United Nations, International Organizations and Civil Conflict Prevention led by Monika Grutters.
Various topics ranged from bilateral relations to international issues were discussed during the meeting held between the two sides.
Recalling the longstanding diplomatic relations of the two countries and the recent visits of the two leaders, Ambassador Mesganu reaffirmed that the two countries enjoy extended political and economic ties and stressed the importance of strengthening the relations to a comprehensive level.
He further informed the delegation about the two-year conflict in the northern part of the country which ceased after the Pretoria peace agreement in November 2022 underscoring the wide-ranging efforts made to date by the government for its full implementation and ensured the commitment of the Government to continue its efforts.
Regarding regional issues, State Minister Mesganu underscored Ethiopia’s commitment to work with partners for the peace and stability of the region.
Monika Grutters, on her part, expressed the importance of scaling up bilateral relation of the two countries and stressed on jointly addressing existing challenges.
