Ethiopia fully committed for East African peace – ENDF chief of staff
Addis Ababa, June 28, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia is deeply committed to achieving lasting peace and stability in the East Africa region, according to Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, the Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF).
During his visit to assess the readiness of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Motorized Battalion, Field Marshal Berhanu expressed satisfaction in ensuring that the unit is adequately equipped and prepared to undertake any mission in compliance with United Nations standards.
During his visit, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula underscored that Ethiopia’s dedication to the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) stems from its genuine desire for peace in Africa and the East Africa region.
He noted that Ethiopia, being one of the ten East African countries, is fully committed and prepared to contribute to regional peace and stability.
Field Marshal Berhanu acknowledged that the Department of Defense Logistics and the Federal Police played a crucial role in ensuring the readiness of EASF’s motorized battalion. He extended his gratitude to the leaders and units that contributed to its success.
During his visit, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF), praised the members of the EASF motorized battalion, who are comprised of personnel from the Ethiopian national defense forces, police, and civilians.
It is expected that high-ranking officials from the EASF will visit the motorized battalion to assess its preparedness, as per the Ministry of Defense.
