Ethiopia finalizes preparations to host 36th Ordinary Session of AU Assembly
Addis Ababa February 2, 2023 (FBC) – Preparations have been finalized to host the upcoming 36th ordinary Session of the AU Assembly (Heads of State and Government Session) and 42nd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council (Ministerial Session), which will be held from February 18–19 and 15–16, 2023 respectively in Addis Ababa, said the State Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
A discussion is being held regarding the preparations for the summit in attendance with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism, the National Organizing Committee with 30 institution members and representatives of hotels.
Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, State Ministr of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia and Chairperson of the National Committee, stated on the discussion that participants arrive in the capital starting from February 14, accordingly, Special and high-level preparations have been made to welcome them in a manner that suits the good image of the country,
Since it is the conference that the country will host after the peace agreement, Ambassador Birtukan mentioned that multifaceted preparations have been carried out in a way that suits the positive image of the country.
Ambassador Birtukan called on hotels to fulfill their dual responsibilities while hosting guests for the summit, considering Ethiopia and Africa.
State Minister of Tourism, Selamawit Dawit On her part, mentioned that preparations have been made so that hotels can accommodate guests in a better way than before.
She added that since Ethiopia is not fully benefiting from the potential sector, preparations have been made to make good use of the opportunity of the summit.
It is stated on the occasion that all stakeholders have made high preparations regarding security and safety.
