Ethiopia envisages enhancing wheat productivity: PM

Addis Ababa, May 8, 2020 (FBC) – Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed today announced Ethiopia aims to further enhance Wheat productivity.

“While Ethiopia is one of the largest wheat producers in Africa, our aim is to further enhance productivity through irrigation schemes as part of import substitution endeavors” the premier stated.

Recent activities in Beninshangul-Gumuz and Gambella Regions are promising, Dr. Abiy said.

Prime Minister Dr. Abiy further  noted on face book saying “As is implementation of lowland wheat production in Somali region, I am also pleased to learn the progress in seedlings production in nurseries throughout the three regions as we prepare for the annual Green Legacy planting season.”
