Ethiopia, Dubai discuss ways to scale up trade and investment ties
Addis Ababa, May 26, 2022 (FBC) – Ambassador Aklilu Kebede, Consul General of the Ethiopian Consulate in Dubai and Northern Emirates, paid a courtesy call on the President and CEO of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hamad Buamim, on Wednesday.
During their discussion, Hamad Buamim pledged to support the Ethiopian ambassador during his tenure in office and cooperate to boost the investment and trade between the two countries.
Appreciating the warm welcome accorded to him by the CEO, Ambassador Aklilu expressed interest in working with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry for advanced investment flows between Ethiopia and the UAE.
The two sides emphasized the need to jointly work to initiate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Dubai Chamber and Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (Addis Chamber).
Their discussion noted the need to jointly discuss bottlenecks to investment and facilitate the exchange of experience and technology transfer to help make Ethiopia’s private sector more competitive.
The two sides concluded their discussion with an understanding to discuss the issues in detail at the end of September 2022.
