Ethiopia determined to continue cooperation with Germany in TVET, skill dev’t – Ministry
Addis Ababa, June 20, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia will work to strengthen its cooperation with Germany in the field of technical and vocational education as well as skills development, the Ministry of Labor and Skills of Ethiopia (MoLS) indicated.
Ethiopian delegation led by the Minister of Labor and Skills Muferihat Kamil paid a working visit to Munich, Germany. The Minister of State for Technical and Vocational Sector Teshale Berecha and other officials from the Ministry were also part of the delegation that travelled to the European nation.
The delegation’s visit aims to strengthen Ethiopia’s partnership and cooperation with international institutions in the fields of technical and vocational training as well as to learn best practices, MoLS Minister Muferiat Kamil said in a statement posted on her social media page.
During her stay Germany, the Minister stated that she had productive discussions with industry leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers and union representatives on the importance of human resource development and the bilateral cooperative training that Germany is known for.
She also indicated that she held discussions with the leadership of the Munich Technical University regarding the prospect of partnership with the Ethiopian Technical University that plays a pivotal role in the field of skills development in Ethiopia.
The MolS Minister mentioned that the cooperation framework is focused on bilateral cooperation training, research and innovation, increasing the participation of the private sector and job creation.
She hopes that the cooperation will have a positive impact on the effectiveness of the national reform introduced in the field of skills development.
