Ethiopia, Cuba keen to cooperate in science and technology sectors

Addis Ababa, May 18, 2021 (FBC) – Ambassador of Ethiopia to Republic of Cuba, Shibru Mamo, met with Elba Rosa Perez Montoya, Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment (CITMA) of Cuba.

During their meeting, the two sides discussed ways to implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Ethiopia and Cuba on Science and Technology.

They have also deliberated on various issues of cooperation in science and technology including biotechnology, meteorology, and astronomy.

Ambassador Shibru also took the opportunity to brief the Minister on the upcoming election, GERD, Ethio-Sudan Border dispute, and the ongoing humanitarian assistance and Rehabilitation activities in the Tigray Region.

Finally, Elba Rosa Perez Montoya proposed to arrange virtual meetings between the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment as well as representatives of other ministries or institutions from different sectors (depending on the interests of Ethiopia) and their counterparts.
