Ethiopia, Cuba discuss cooperation in agriculture, health and education sectors
Addis Ababa, November 18, 2022 (FBC) – Genet Teshome, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to the Republic of Cuba, conferred with Ambassador Luis Alberto Amorós Núñez, Director for the Directorate of the Sub- Saharan Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, at his office.
During the meeting, Ambassador Gent briefed the Director on latest developments in Ethiopia notably about the signing of peace agreement between the Government of Ethiopia and the TPLF.
Ambassador Genet stated that the agreement laid the foundation for sustainable peace respecting the sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of Ethiopia.
Ambassador Genet further explained the provisions of the agreement including upholding the constitution, restoration of constitutional order in Tigray region, disarmament of TPLF combatants, expediting humanitarian aid, restoration of basic services and implementing transitional justice in restoring order, accountability, and reconciliation.
The Director, on his part, commended the signing of the agreement and expressed his hope that it will bring lasting peace to the brotherly people of Ethiopia.
They further reviewed the status of bilateral cooperation between the two sisterly countries.
They noted the excellent and very cordial relations the two countries enjoyed ever since the establishment of formal diplomatic relations in mid-1970.
Both sides also noted the immense potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in agriculture, technology, health and higher education. In the end, they pledged to work closely to further strengthen and deepen the cooperation in various fields.
