Ethiopia continues augmented efforts to defend Africa’s interests: Amb. Taye
Addis Ababa, December 29, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Taye Atske-Sellasie gives an undertaking that his country will continue to defend Africa’s interests beyond its own causes in its diplomatic adventures.
The ambassadors and heads of missions who represent Ethiopia in various countries across the world carry the responsibility to defend their country’s interest and increase its universal diplomatic capacity.
Ambassador Taye Atske-Sellasie said that Ethiopia is currently carrying out various diplomatic adventures.
He mentioned that his country is not only defending its own interests in diplomatic endeavours, but also fulfilling its greater role in preserving the interests and objectives of Africa.
Ethiopia’s diplomacy, especially following the conflict in the north, has been tested in many ways in the past two years. However, it has been overcome with various efforts, he added.
In particular, Ambassador Taye said that following the peace agreement, Ethiopia’s diplomacy is in a good shape in many ways since the Pretoria peace accord, says ENA’s report.
He indicated that Ethiopia’s foreign diplomacy is built on the principle of solidarity and mutual benefit, confirming that it will continue to strengthen its diplomatic efforts entrenched on safeguarding the interests of Africa beyond its own causes.
In addition to defending the national and continental interests, Ethiopia will continue diplomatic efforts to ensure the inculcation of the maxim of “African solutions to African problems”, he said.
To demonstrate Ethiopia’s diplomatic potential, the Ambassador emphasized that it is crucial to cement its integrity and power by working unanimously.
