Ethiopia reports 16 new COVID-19 cases, one death in 24 hours
Addis Ababa, May 9, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopia has reported 16 new cases, two recoveries and one death from the coronavirus over the past 24 hours.
Out of the 2,383 samples taken over the past 24 hours, 16 people have tested positive for the virus, said the Ministry of Health in a statement.
All the confirmed cases are Ethiopia nationals aged between 20-60 years, it said.
Two of the confirmed cases have a travel history abroad, while the other cases had contact with previously confirmed cases, it added.
A 65-year-old man from Addis Ababa has also died from the virus, taking the death toll due to the coronavirus in the country to five, the statement noted.
Two patients have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours to bring the total number of recoveries to 97.
The total number of confirmed cases in Ethiopia has now reached 210, with an overall test count of 32, 689.
