Ethiopia close to ensuring food security, export to global market: PM Abiy
Addis Ababa, October 17, 2022 (FBC) – FDRE Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visited a soybean cluster farm in Tegede woreda, Central Gondar, Amhara Region.
During the scheduled visit, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen, as well as other senior government officials.
Prime Minister Abiy said that in the effort to increase productivity in the Amhara region an extensive plan is being executed to produce soybeans.
He wrote on his social media platform that they have looked in on the production of soybean cluster farming which covers around 38,000 hectares in Tegede Woreda, Central Gondar Zone.
“We visited the 1,200-hectare soybean cluster farm in Addis Alem-Marzeneb, [Tegede woreda]. The output we witnessed is very encouraging”, he stated.
“It indicates that the commendable results we have achieved in wheat production will continue in other products as well”, the Premier added.
According to PM Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia is close to ensuring its food security and participating in the global market with its domestic products in concerted efforts.
