Ethiopia-China Tourism Promotion Forum held in Beijing
Addis Ababa, November 28, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethio-China Tourism Promotion Forum has just taken place in the Embassy of Ethiopia in Beijing, China with the purpose of promoting attraction sites and attracting Chinese tourist to Ethiopia.
Ambassador Tefera Derbew gave a briefing on Ethiopia’s potentials in the tourism industry, highlighting the country’s diverse culture, wild lives, history and heritage sites.
He called on Chinese travel agencies to include Ethiopia in their list of destinations. The forum has attracted more than 274 participants from 214 tourism associations and tour operators.
Representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the China People’s Republic and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism were in also attendance.
From the Ethiopian side, the Minister of Culture and Sports, the Minister of Tourism, the Director General for Middle East, Asia, and Oceania Affaird, the Ethiopian Airlines Beijing Branch Manager, and the Ethiopian Tour Association President delivered speeches and presentations regarding tourism opportunities in Ethiopia, according to the Embassy.
Attendees emphasized the need for Chinese tourists to have a deeper understanding of Ethiopian culture and history in order to recognize the country as a chosen tourist destination.
